YouAtNotes Domino To Go FAQ:

Here are some frequenty asked questions and their answers.

Q: I'm not a developer at all. Can I make a mobile version of a Lotus Notes App for iPhone, iPad, Android on my own?

Yes, but only if you let us do the work :-)
Domino To Go is a solution for developers, just like Domino Designer is for developers that want to build Lotus Notes Apps.
If you don't have any developer, you can let us do the work. Just tell us about your project and ask for a quote.

Q: You talk about the free Titanium development environment and Domino To Go - I don't get the difference between them.

Think of Titanium as Domino Designer and Domino To Go as the LotusScript Notes* classes: Titanium is the general development environment in which you can write native Apps for iOS and Android with JavaScript. Domino To Go adds the capability to easily replicate and work with Lotus Notes data.
And furthermore, Domino To Go provides various general helpers such as:
  • Easy to use internationalisation.
  • UI elements like alert and confirm.
  • Pre defined styles for input controls, fonts and gradients.
  • Logging and debug mode.
  • HTTP operations like a batch download.
  • Field validations.
and more.

Q: I could simply take Titanium for free and write code to access Notes Data by myself, can't I?

Sure, if you're an experienced developer, you might be able to do that. For example, you could build REST APIs in your Lotus Notes or XPages and access them via HTTP from your Titanium App.
There are a lot of things to fight with, like for example how to handle multiple download processes, or how to store notes data on the device, how to download and upload file attachments and so on.
So it will take it's time to build that kind of stuff by yourself, but it is possible.

On the other hand, when you use a proven and supported API like Domino To Go you could focus on your business logic. Sounds like the better choice to me :-)

Q: What about Android?

Titanium itself supports Android today. We are in the process of testing our Domino To Go against Android, but we didn't finished that yet. Stay tuned.

Q: What about Blackberry?

Today's Blackberry is not supported, sorry. Blackberry 10 will be supported by Titanium in the near future and then we will work to support Blackberry 10, too.

Q: What about Windows devices?

We are exploring the options to support the most recent Windows devices. Since Titanium supports mobile web Apps, that may be a way to go. Please ask out the current status for Windows devices.

Q: What do I need to pay for Domino To Go?

You need one licence per mobile App. See this page for more.

Q: Is Domino To Go documented?

Sure. With Domino To Go you get the full documentation of the API and example code.

Q: Is there support and consulting available?

Depending on the licence level there may be some days of consulting already included. You can always buy more support.
If you find a bug in Domino To Go, we will fix it for free (but with a priority depending on the licence level).

Q: Can you develop the App for me?

Sure, no problem! Please tell us about your project and ask for a quote.

Q: Can I work with multiple NSF databases in one mobile App?

Yes.

Q: Can I combine NSF data and data from other sources?

Yes.

Q: Can I make photos with the camera and attach them to a Notes Document?

Yes. That's technically possible and we will provide a sample in the very near future.

Q: Does the Notes security model apply in Domino To Go?

Yes. Since the mobile App is treated as a web user in Domino, all standard Notes security features are in place.

Q: Can I decrypt Notes encrypted documents on the mobile iPhone, iPad, Android device?

No. It's the same than in any Web or XPages App, working with document encryption is currently not possible.

Q: Can I store the data on the device encrypted?

According to the Apple documentation, data stored on the iOS device should be encrypted when the device is locked with a PIN.
There is an additional module for Titanium from a third party vendor that implements an ecrypted SQLite database on the device, this module could be using together with Domino To Go to add extra security.
